SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (May 29, 2025) — The race to redefine cycling is officially on. Formula Fixed (www.formulafixed.com), the brakeless, story-driven sport built for the next generation, has today announced the dates and locations for its first-ever qualifying races, paving the way for the 2025–26 Pro Series debut.
Two regional qualifiers will take place in late summer 2025:
Racers can secure their spot in their conference qualifier one of three ways: invitation, registration, or application.
Entry Fee: A $100 entry fee ($50 per discipline Crit/Short Track) applies to all entry methods (Invitation, Registration, and Application).
Top finishers from each Conference Qualifier will earn a spot in the Formula Fixed Pro Series, launching February 2026. Athletes who qualify for the Pro Series will have travel and accommodation costs to and from race events covered by Formula Fixed.
“Besides the obvious (fixed gear racers and bike messengers), we’ve found that cyclocross racers, crit racers, BMXers and even mountain bike racers do really well in the fixed gear discipline because of the handling element” said Formula Fixed Co-founder Clare Grady. “As long as you’re proficient enough on a fixie to be safe on course, you’re welcome to line up.”
“We’re not here to tweak the old model — we’re here to build something new,” said James Grady, Co-Founder of Formula Fixed. “Between the rich culture and history of fixed-gear and our fan-first approach, this isn’t just a race, it’s a cultural shift. And it starts with the qualifiers. We’d also like to thank our partners at the Chocolate City Criterium and the Oakland Grand Prix for sharing their platforms and allowing us to build out a qualifying launch pad.”
Why Formula Fixed Matters:
94% of Americans know how to ride a bike. But only 6% follow professional cycling. Formula Fixed exists to flip that stat, building a league for fans — not just participants — with:
Shorter, punchier races made for screens and social
Indoor and urban tracks that feel more Mario Kart than Tour de France
A blend of athletes, creators, and city culture you can’t find anywhere else
The qualifiers will feature Short Track Races and Stadium Crits. Top riders will advance to the inaugural Formula Fixed Pro Series in the Winter & Spring of 2026.
